High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

After a stroke your brain has an area where the neurons die, but there is a surrounding area that has potential to recover.  The best way to promote brain regeneration is to have blood flow to the area and release brain derived neurotropic factor aka “brain fertilizer”.  The quickest way to increase BDNF in your brain is by completing high intensity interval training.

My program is designed to complete HIIT with a licensed doctor of physical therapy who can assist clients in a safe environment and target heart ranges.  The level of difficulty and intensity will be adjusted to the individual’s physical abilities.

Life changes for individuals and their caregivers after a stroke. That is why this company will adapt to the individual and meet at the person’s home or at a location that works best for both of us.  Studies show that the best window for neuroplasticity is within the first 6 months after a stroke.  The gold standard frequency of a HIIT program post Cva should be run is 3x/week for 8-12 weeks.  Life is busy, so I have built 3 different packages to cater to your needs.

What to expect:

Free Initial visit will last 30 minutes and occur in the patient’s home. This initial evaluation will determine if the HIIT program is a good fit for client and therapist, baseline vital signs, obtain doctor clearance and paperwork, and build a program together that fits the goals of the client.

Once the program begins, the client will complete the HIIT training with the therapist for approximately an hour. The therapist will give a targeted home exercise program to be completed on days that HIIT program does not occur. This may include speech or upper extremity exercises- this is meant to target the specific deficits of the stroke survivor.
